2024 Travel Writer of the Year
Finding out the destination for a £99 Wowcher ‘mystery holiday.’
I’m shocked and honored to share that the British Guild of Travel Writers named me Travel Writer of the Year for 2024. The award was based on a portfolio of my favorite pieces of work from the previous year, judged by industry professionals. Each piece was about a different kind of misadventure: taking a dozen stages of public transport to get between London and Saint-Omer, France, with a pair of folding kayaks; a DIY ‘spin the globe’ trip achieved by a £99 mystery trip from Wowcher; an adventure itinerary planned by ChatGPT; and the story of a failed relationship that also happens to be a functional gear review of titanium camping cookware.
